CFengine3

Jordan> I'd like to say thanks to Aleksey for putting on an interesting intro to cfengine 3 last night. We had a decent turnout of around 25 with some pretty active crowd participation and I just when I thought I was getting a handle on thing I checked clock and it was 9PM. Fortunately as others have a mentioned Aleksey has offered to present his full tutorial that he will be presenting at Ohio Linux Fest and I think I can arrange an offsite facility, stay tuned.

Also gratitude to Jok for shooting the video and preparing the upload, Peter for offering up the vhost and storage, and domain master dclose for the CNAME in our favorite zone file. I assume the url will be posted as soon as the video is uploaded.

Special thanks to our host Justin for keeping security at bay and escorting the fashionably late crowd like myself into the building, and to Ralf for reliably presenting a concise intro. Next month Corey Chandler will be making his UUASC-LA debut.

If you are interested in speaking at an upcoming UUASC-LA meeting send me a title and a few sentences on what you propose to present and we can find a slot.

DETER cloud

First of all, I am not sure what I am doing to do with this blog, however I encourage members to ask me for authoring rights and to contribute to it. So any member of UUASC who would want to contribute, you can be part of this blog. Our mailing list is great, but this might be another way for us to share. For those who don't know our group, we are the UNIX Users Association of Southern California. We hold meetings in El Segundo on the first Thursday of the month and in Irvine on the Second Monday of the month. We get about 30 people at a meeting and discuss topics related to Unix, WWW, and IT in general. Join our mailing list if your interested in learning more at UUASC.org.
DETER is an interesting project that gives you a large sandbox to try out malware and protect your product against it weither it is software or hardware. Very much needed these days where we have so many exploits. We had about 27 people show to the meeting, and a good time at M&S afterwards.
